I am an addictions clinician specialising in addiction and mental health, supporting people who are navigating some of life’s most challenging experiences. I work with individuals, couples, and families facing alcohol and other drug dependence, behavioural addictions, and the mental health struggles that often sit alongside these issues. I understand that addiction rarely exists in isolation. It is often connected to trauma, grief, loss and life circumstances that have overwhelmed a person’s ability to cope. My role is to help people make sense of their experiences and support them to rebuild a life that feels meaningful and stable.
I have worked across a range of settings including prisons, residential rehabilitation programmes, and community services. These environments have allowed me to support people from many different backgrounds, each with their own story of resilience and struggle. This work has deepened my understanding of the complex relationship between addiction, mental health, trauma and the social factors that shape people’s lives.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in evidence-based methods. I draw from cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed practices, adapting each approach to suit the individual or family. I believe counselling should be a space where people feel safe to speak openly, explore difficult experiences, and develop tools that support lasting change.
At the heart of my work is the belief that people are not defined by their past, and that with the right support, meaningful change is always possible.
